What is Dodo IS? It’s a management system at Dodo Pizza and the key to our success. We believe that new technologies can make any company much more efficient, even ones that work on traditional markets. That’s why our pizza business is founded on a cloud-based information system that manages almost everything at Dodo.

It combines tablets in the kitchen, office computers, customers’ and deliverymen’s smartphones into one network through the Internet, which enables the business processes to be monitored and managed in real time.

If you can’t measure something, you can’t manage it. That’s our motto at Dodo Pizza and the reason why we try to build a system that can measure almost everything.

For example, when you place an order, the operator puts it in the system using an iPad. If you decide to order online it immediately appears on the tablet in Dodo’s kitchen.

The pizza maker checks in on the iPad when he starts to make it and checks out when he finishes. You can track the status of your pizza on the website and even see how it’s made via webcam.

Thanks to Dodo IS we can count the monthly or even daily productivity of any single pizza maker at any Dodo Pizza location. And the system makes it possible to compare it with the average level (and make management decisions if necessary).

This is only one example of the advantages of our new way of doing pizza business. We have already invested over $1 million into Dodo IS and plan to invest 2 more million in the next 2 years. So Dodo IS is still a work in progress and we have a lot of ideas how to boost our efficiency with its help.

Outsiders usually say that IT in fast food is of minor significance or they point out that there are plenty of out-of-the-box solutions, so there is no need to waste time and create your own system.

We believe that in order to make a real difference in business IT solutions should:

  1. be deeply focused on one business instead of being all-purpose solutions;
  2. integrate into the production model and management system, sometimes even changing them instead of being just an add-on;
  3. operate online in the cloud in the form of a web-application to be easy to install and update and to provide management with real-time information.

These three key features make Dodo IS different from all IT solutions by our competitors.
